A popular choice for pet owners! Whether it is of your current pet(s) or as a memorial piece, I will take great pride in creating the portrait for you. This is also a great gift idea for your friend, family member or loved one!

I use high quality pastels on Pastelmat which allow me to create great detail and produce an overall high-quality drawing.

My commission books are not just for pets, so if you have a wildlife piece in mind, please fill out the same request form below and specify your requirements.

To secure your place on my commission booking list, I take a non-refundable 50% deposit via bank transfer. The remaining 50% balance will be due once the portrait is complete.

REFERENCE PHOTOS & BOOKING

Below is a guide for taking photographs for your portrait. I use one main photograph for the portrait but do ask for additional reference photographs if you would like particular details that are not obvious in the main photograph - for example, eye or fur colour.

Please note that this is only a guide as I understand that it will not be possible to retake photographs of pets who have sadly passed. However, I would appreciate the highest quality photograph you have.

Once we have discussed, and confirmed, the reference photo and the deposit has been paid, I will book in your portrait.

It is completely up to you whether you would like to receive progress photographs or wait until the portrait is finished, just let me know what you would prefer.

Too Dark

The dog is facing away from the camera and this photo has poor lighting so it will be difficult to pick out main features and details.

Too Blurred

It will be difficult to pick up details from this photo as it is not in-focus and the main features are not visible.

Too Far Away

As this photo is taken from quite a distance and is blurred, it will be difficult to draw main features and with any details.

Up Close

A perfect close-up shot of the face, with features visible and details in focus.

Side Profile

This is a good photo of the side profile as all the features are in focus and a good amount of detail can be seen. A second reference photo may be needed to pick up the eye colour and detail.

Head & Chest

This is a good front-on photo of the head and chest with addition of the bandana and harness.

COMPLETION, PACKING & DELIVERY

It is recommended that pastel artwork is mounted, therefore I mount your artwork free of charge with acid-free mountboard (see table above for mount dimensions) so please take this into consideration when buying a frame. Care instructions will be provided with your portrait.

The portrait will be presented with a Certificate of Authenticity.

All commissions are sent via Royal Mail Next Day Delivery, which is trackable and should be with you the next working day.
